Sara in the City
that’s right, folks. i’ve finally made the leap of faith to nyc. literally, it was a total leap of faith to actually leave my job, a city i’ve come to love over the past 2 years, and the mid-west. but, here i am, living on the ues with my dear friend from gi, sarah. that’s the good thing about this roommate situation, i’m pretty sure no one will have a problem remembering our name.
fyi - this is technically day 2 in the city. i flew in last night and we stayed at a hotel as sarah’s furniture didn’t arrive until today. feeling more like a new yorker as the day has gone by - bought my unlimited subway pass, took a horribly long subway ride, carried a ton of groceries and cleaning supplies to our apartment, and walked more than i have in quite some time.
a few realizations we had today: apartment was incredibly dirty (i’m talking bird poop in the bathroom and bugs in the fridge, people!!), we have to buy our own deadbolt (?? I’m talking to the super about this tomorrow..effed up), there’s a rite-aid across the street (big +) and a grocery store a block away (even bigger +).
tomorrow’s my first day working at the production company. i’m super excited. the owner, also my boss, is awesome and has a lot of amazing projects coming down in the next few months. the office location is amazing — literally in the heart of soho AND really close to the best tacos in the world (la esquina, wha what!!). so, it’s time to kick some ass and do a fabulous job! (also, i wouldn’t mind running into kelly cutrone, whitney port, or any of the people’s rev crew).
my plan is to turn this blog into a documentary of my experiences here in the city…with a fashion focus, of course. so stay tuned for what’s sure to be a wild ride!!
