Unwanted clothes? Why not make some cash?

Every fall/spring, I take some time to go through my closet and pull out any items that I no longer wear. The rule: If I haven’t worn something in six months, it’s probably time for it to go. Instead of taking unwanted clothes directly to goodwill, I first take them to my local thrift/consignment shop that buys used clothes from people. It’s a great way to make some extra cash and clean out some much needed space in my closet.

A few easy steps and you can can make some easy cash too!

Step 1: Search online to find your local thrift shop. If you’re in the KC area, Arizona Trading Company is my favorite.

Step 2: Go through your closet and pull out anything that you haven’t worn in 6 months or more. Usually thrift stores only buy clothes that are in season - so take warmer clothes in the fall and lighter clothes in the spring. Bag everything up and head to the thrift store.

Step 3: While the store clerk assesses your clothes, look around and see if you can find some deals! Thrift stores generally offer store credit or cash for your clothes.

Step 4: Walk away with cash or store credit!!

This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning:). The best part about it is knowing that your old clothes can become new to someone else.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
