I’m part of a committee that is putting together an event at the Nelson Atkins-Museum in January. Party Arty is a swanky gathering held each year in an effort to raise funds for the museum. Last year, I found a great LBD that worked perfectly; however, this year, I really want to knock it out of the park.
After doing a little research, I found some dresses that I absolutely LOVE. The watercolor-esque dress by Elie Tahari is gorgeous. I’m a sucker for purple an the integration of the other colors works magically. It definitely evokes that arty look :).
It would be nice to stand out from the sea of LBDs that are sure to be present…and, with an electric blue dress like the one pictured above, I don’t think that would be a problem. The cut of the dress is so simple and elegant, but the color definitely makes a statement.
There’s also the “if I had a 1,000 dollars” dress by Vena Cava. The fabric and cut of this dress are fabulous. And who doesn’t love a dress that takes you right back to the 80s… in the best possible way.
Last, but definitely not least, is the look from Lacroix. I love everything about it. From the textured hosiery and sleeves to the dramatic draping of the skirt. Glorious.
MY TWIST: I’ll be looking for a dress similar to the Tahari, textured hosiery and open-toe sandals. Watch out!
